Carla Capizzi, Immediate Past President, Appointed to AWC
National Board

January 1, 2020 -- AWCNJ is proud and delighted to
announce that Immediate Past President Carla Capizzi has
been named as AWCNJ's first representative on the AWC
National Board of Directors. Capizzi was asked to fill an
unexpired term for one year, beginning Jan. 1, 2010. Capizzi
served as Co-President of AWCNJ from 2007 to 2009. She is a
Senior Public Relations Specialist at Rutgers University in
Newark where she is responsible for media relations,
publications and public relations. Prior to joining Rutgers
in 1995, she worked in corporate communications at
Prudential Financial in Newark for 14 years. Her
publications work has earned her awards from the IABC and
LIAA.
Renee Gatz Publishes Book with the Help of AWC
October
2009 -- When AWCNJ member Renee Gatz completed the
manuscript of her first book, "Wise
Words & Witty Expressions," she reached out to
fellow AWC members for help on getting it published.
Using the AWC’s national email database, she was able to
contact all AWC members and received over 200 email
responses from across the nation. Women she had never
met before offered up their publishing experience,
contact information, thoughts and suggestions, and
outlined the differences between self-publishing and
working with a publishing company. The support Gatz
received was so inspiring, it kept her motivated to get
her book published. Ultimately, she elected to work with
a start-up publishing company right in her own AWCNJ
chapter,
Woodpecker Press. All of these AWC connections
resulted in the successful production of "Wise
Words & Witty Expressions," which shares a collection of
the expressions Gatz's parents spoke to her throughout
her life to help her navigate life’s big and little
challenges. "The production of my book," says Gatz, "is
a testament to the women who belong to this organization
and the commitment they have to seeing their fellow
members meet with success and the power of the network."
