Mendoza Media Wins Two Silver Communicator Awards

New AWCNJ member Teresa Mendoza, Managing Partner, Client Services for Mendoza Media LLC received two International Academy of the Visual Arts Silver Communicator Awards for a fund raising/public awareness video created for Circle of Life Children’s Center. AWCNJ Co-President, Lynn McFarlane Receives 2008 Pyramid Award

Newark-- June 16, 2008 — An anniversary report published by the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Nursing was recognized for overall excellence at the 18th annual Pyramid Awards ceremony held recently (June 4) at the Highlawn Pavilion in West Orange. Sponsored by the New Jersey Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA/NJ), the Pyramid Awards honor the state's best work and top practitioners in the field. More than 80 examples of public relations campaigns and single-tactic entries competed for 25 awards.

UMDNJ-School of Nursing's report, "Celebrating 15 Years of Progress," captured a Pyramid Award in the single item Special Publications category. Lynn McFarlane, director of marketing and communications, accepted the award on the school's behalf. "It was gratifying to produce a report highlighting UMDNJ-School of Nursing's leadership in education, community service and clinical practice," said McFarlane, a resident of Montclair.
 
"From marketing communications to government affairs to non-profit campaigns, some of the finest work in the public relations industry is created and implemented by New Jersey-based corporations, PR firms and practitioners," said Joan M. Vander Valk, president of PRSA NJ. "The 2008 class of PRSA NJ Pyramid Award winners represents an incredible array of work, reinforcing the tremendous value of public relations in helping organizations raise awareness, while and building and protecting their brands."


2008-2010 AWCNJ Board Announced

The AWCNJ Nominating Committee is pleased to announce the 2008-2010 board. Five new members have joined the board. AWCNJ’s current VP of Membership, Karen Streiff, has stepped down because of increased business demand. We will miss Karen’s enthusiasm and dedication to AWCNJ.

Board members are nominated for two-year terms on the Board. AWCNJ has found the co-presidency and co-board positions to be most effective. The vice-president of finance and vice-president of corporate relations positions remain open.
